[ SPONSORED ] DEXA SCAN FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH

Women are most likely to develop Osteoporosis, especially women over the age of 50. Women tend to have smaller, and thinner bones than men, men also get osteoporosis but its less common happened. So to prevent the osteoporosis in advance, as women we should do some things to build healthy bones.

A DEXA ( Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry ) Scan measures bone, fat and muscle in our body.  It uses X-ray technology to determine the distribution of lean muscle, fat, water and bone in our body. Unlike any other body composition measuring tool, DEXA results are highly accurate and highly reproducible. The scanner uses the information to create a details map of our body and measure our Body Composition & Bone Density. 

BODY COMPOSITION

DEXA Scan gives us the most precise information about our body fat, muscle and bone composition and lets us track changes in body composition over time. Mostly Fitness enthusiasts, athletes and dieter often use body composition scan to measure their progress.
 
DEXA Scan also gives us precise measurements of fat and muscle distributed around our body. See muscle asymmetry that we need to correct to reduce injuries. And track potentially dangerous visceral fat around our vital organs.

DEXA also helps us monitor our weight loss progress. The scan lets us see and track how much body fat we are actually losing, and how much muscle we are gaining.

BONE DENSITY

A Bone Densitometry test is used to measure how strong our bones are. It is commonly used to identify osteoporosis, a condition that causes a decrease in the density of bones resulting in fragility, and to determine a person’s risk for developing fractures.

As women which  are mostly 4x more to develop osteoporosis and have high risk bone fractures as well. Bone density peaks at age 30 and then decreases over time. We need pay attention more about it.

Here I will talk more about Bone Density, since I'm focusing about high risk of osteoporosis for women and how to prevent/ monitor it.

When to take the DEXA BONE DENSITY SCAN? 

• Are female and older than 65
• Are female, menopausal or post menopausal and:
  • Under the age of 45
  • Under the age of 65 with other risk factors
  • Not taking estrogen
  • Over 5 feet 7 inches tall
  • Weigh less than 125 pounds
• Are male and older than 70
• Are male and have clinical conditions associated with bone loss
• Have broken a bone over the age of 50
• Have lost more than an inch of height
• Have unexplained back pain
• Have personal or family history of:
  • Hip Fracture
  • Smoking
  • Osteoporosis
• Use medications that are known to cause bone loss (including corticosteroids such as Prednisone, various anti-seizure medications such as Dilantin and certain barbiturates or high-dose thyroid replacement drugs)
• Have Type I Diabetes, Liver Disease or Kidney Disease
• High bone turnover (shows up in the form of excessive collagen in urine samples)
• Thyroid condition, such as Hyperthyroidism.
• Parathyroid condition, such as Hyperparathyroidism.
• Experienced a fracture after only mild trauma.
• X-ray evidence of vertebral fracture or other signs of osteoporosis
• Are a heavy drinker

But its not allowed to get a scan for young people under 18, pregnant women, and a total of 4x Dexa Scan in the past year. But however if you are breastfeeding mom, its safe to get the scan. 

For tracking bone density (osteoperosis screening), the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force recommends routine screening for all women over-65. The test is also recommended for women under-65 with additional risk factors. The scan is typically repeated every two years.

HOW DEXA BONE DENSITY WORKS?

DEXA is today’s established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD) and is most often performed on the spine, hips or forearm.

Step 1 : If you are at a risk of osteoporosis, talk and ask your doctor  about scheduling a bone density scan

Step 2 : Your doctor will recommend a nearby Dexa Scan provider that is covered by your health insurance.

Step 3 : Schedule an appointment for the scan and an additional appointment with your doctor to discuss the results.

Step 4 : Dont take calcium supplements for at least 24 hours before the exam and wear comfortable clothes ( avoid wearing clothes with metal zippers or hooks).

Step 5 : On the scanning day. Unlike an MRI or a CT scan, you will not have to lie in a closed off tunnel. You'll lie on an open table as a wand hovers over your body. The machine is quick and will not make loud noises. Lay flat on the scanning bed for roughly 10 to 20 minutes

Step 6 : The result is available immediately after the test. Discuss the results with the health care provider.


The average price of a DEXA Scan for Bone Dencity is around $200 ( Prices may vary considerably based on insurance and deductible ). Generally prices are considerably cheaper in out-patient diagnostic facilities than hospital based facilities. Use  DEXA Scan locator to find the nearer location and the cost of DEXA Scan.

I ever wanted to purchase this at testerkorea, but cancelled it coz still not sure if they were good or not XD So I was glad when she sent these product in the package :D

I already knew this brand is exist XD there are so many Korean beauty brands I dont know XD . I haven't had a tube hand cream before, usually I bought the one with has cute packaging haha. It has a unique scent I've never smell before for a hand cream product. 

NATURE REPUBLIC MASK SHEET ACAI BERRY

She sent me some mask sheets also, i love to wear mask sheets recently as my weekend skincare routine. Never tried mask sheet from Nature Republic anw XD

Everything that she sent is so cute. Im so happy that I got the It's skin Baby Face blusher XD , this is my most favorite item. 

IT'S SKIN BABYFACE PETIT BLUSHER AND ITS'S SKIN PETIT TINT GLOSS

Im in love with It's Skin Babyface collection since long time ago, as it has pretty adorable packaging haha. I even dont realize that this collection is still in stock. Tot Im rarely wearing blusher would love to bring this in my travel pouch coz its super cute ^^. And the Tint gloss is super cute as well, its very travel friendly since it is super mini size.

AMOK  STYLE MASTER LIPSTICK #B02

Haven't heard about this brand also, but it has unique and pretty packaging. The lipstick case is pretty cute and just look like a toy. The shade is also pretty and my fav color, havent tried this yet. Hope the the product will suit well on me.

APIEU GO GO STICK SHADOW SBE01 GO GO BEAT

I havent had a shadow stick before, it will be my first experience to use stick shadow type. I havent tried this shadow yet as well, Im searching for about this product at their web, and found out that it has pretty shade and shimmery type. It can be used as highlighter too.

STATIONARY 

I got stationary supplies in Korean Tradition design theme. Im quiet surprise to get some stationary in the package XD as I ever mentioned on my instagram that I wanna start to write bullet journal. yeah I would love to use this for my bujo XD ( hasnt started my bujo yet anw XD ). I got a T-shirt also, it has cute design and perfectly fit on me ^^

[ REVIEW ] : EYENLIP BLACK SNAIL CREAMY TONER ALL IN ONE 200ml REVIEW ( PR GIFT )

Today's review is Eyenlip Black Snail Creamy Toner All in One, my recent favorite toner for my am and pm skincare routines. Im glad that BEAUTYNETKOREA and Eyenlip chose me to review their new product. Tot its a gift, I give my honest thought based on my own experience about this product. If you are craving for hydrating and anti-aging toner, you are in the right place XD , keep reading to know how great the toner is!! 

For my dry skin, I prefer a toner which is hydrating and moisturizing the dry skin. My previous favorite toner was Tonymoly Black Tea London Classic Toner. Since I already emptied it while ago and it was kind of hard to get and repurchase it, Im glad that I find this black snail toner as replacement :D.

🐌 PACKAGING AND INGREDIENTS 🐌

It comes with box packaging, the toner tube made of thick plastic. It seems sturdy and secure enough with screw cap. The black tube make us dont know how much the product left inside. We can find all information about this toner on the box, its written in hangul Korean. 

It contains snail mucus filtrate ( helps to maintain healthy skin and anti wrinkle ) and Amino Acid ( upgrade moisture level ) . It also contain adenosine and niacinamide to improve wrinkles and and whitening. 

Adenosin: Its very good to prevent aging and improve wrinkles. Also anti inflammatory, which function is to improve acne and oily skin trouble effectively. 

Niacinamide: as a whitening agent, its effective in improving skin coloration, reducing redness also increasing skin elasticity.

🐌 TEXTURE AND PERFORMANCE 🐌

It has rich milky creamy texture, which I really like. It means that this kind of toner is really great in moisturizing the dry skin. Though it has creamy texture, it absorbs excellently into the skin. Its a lil bit sticky on the face, but its only for a while. To prevent the stickiness, I suggest to use cotton pad when applying this toner.

This toner is focusing on to prevent fine line/wrinkle and damage skin. So it will be suitable for any skin type. When our skin get sensitive, dry, dull and lack of elasticity, this toner will help us in calming, moisturizing and upgrading skin barrier.

I have been more than a week I'm using this toner. I dont use another skincare to know how this toner works on me / do the toner cause trouble on my skin.

I do really love how this toner moisturizes and enhances my skin elasticity. After a week , I started to apply another skincare along with this toner. Gladly the toner worked well and didn't cause any trouble on my skin. It doesn't break my skin out as well. 

After about a month using this toner, my skin condition is getting better. It helps my skin achieving glow and healthy condition. It does give moist directly after applying the toner. 
 

 

🐌 HOW TO USE 🐌

1. All in One Toner

All type skin can used this as a toner. After wash the face, take appropriate amount of the toner then gently spread and tap tap with palm till it absorb completely. We can use cotton pad as well to apply this toner.

2. Make up Booster, can be used as a mist.

Put the toner in empty bottle, use it as a mist before (increase the absorption of the following skincare products ) / after makeup ( prevent makeup become cakey because oiliness and prevent dryness to keep moisture for longer time .

Overall, love this toner. I would love to recommend this for all of you, as its suitable for any skin type and super hydrating all the day. Its also good to regenerate and improve our skin elasticity.
